The Ford Escape vs. the Ford EcoSport - Which SUV is Right for You?

With so many amazing vehicles to choose from in their lineup, it can be hard to know which Ford is right for you. At Donnell Ford of Salem, we carry a full range of versatile Ford models, with something to please everyone in our new vehicle collection.

If you're in the market for a compact SUV crossover, you may have noticed that Ford just added yet another remarkable option to their model lineup. The 2018 Ford EcoSport is stylish and versatile, and you may be wondering whether you would like it, or the Ford Escape. Let us help.

The 2018 Ford EcoSport

Both the Ford Escape and the Ford EcoSport offer four-door styling, with two rows of seating that accommodate five people comfortably. Both are compact, easy-to-drive, and a piece of cake to park on busy Salem streets. But, they also have a lot of dissimilarities. Read on to see what's different about these two Ford SUV options, and to help determine which one would work better for your needs:

  • Size. While passenger space between these two models is near-identical, with similar measurements for both legroom and headroom, they do differ in cargo space and size. In fact, the EcoSport model is considered subcompact, and it lives up to that title by giving you an easy-to-maneuver, 161-inch long body frame. The Escape, on the other hand, is a little bigger, coming in at more than 178 inches long. This difference impacts the cargo space of the two vehicles, with the EcoSport holding around 13 cubic feet less gear than the Escape.
  • Fuel economy and range. As a smaller vehicle, the EcoSport earns a better mpg rating than the Escape, with an average of 28 mpg for the EcoSport and 24 mpg for the Escape. But, the Escape fuel tank can hold more than the EcoSport, so the range of miles you can travel between fill ups is larger than the EcoSport range.
  • Price. Both Ford SUVs are friendly for a wide variety of budgets. But, getting behind the wheel of a new, entry-level EcoSport will cost you around $3,000 less than an entry-level Escape.
The 2018 Ford Escape

Of course, the best way to determine which of these great Ford models is best for you, is to stop by and test drive them both.
